Top dessert finds at the Davao Chocolate Festival

The Davao Chocolate Festival is now on its fourth year!

I still can’t forget the first time the event was staged in 2014. It was such a joyous day for the cacao industry in Davao City.

Fast forward to 2017, the event continues to surprise regular visitors with some new chocolate brands, purveyors, and products.

This year, the selections offered are not merely chocolate candy bars, tsokolate (hot chocolate drink), and chocolates as ingredients but also cookies, cakes, and more options of chocolate-infused drinks. You can also find some beauty products that are infused with chocolates here too.

Every year we are treated with some of the finest chocolate bars our local brands have to offer. I am not an expert when it comes to chocolate bars; thus, I will not be making a list out of it. However, I would like to list some of my favorite desserts at the festival.

Lara Mia’s White Choco Matcha Brownies

When I visited their booth, their White Choco Matcha Brownies was the first thing that caught my attention.  This was delicious! I love how the matcha does not overpower the whole dessert. I also like how chewy it was.

Ballovar Creations by Claudia is one of the new purveyors in the festival this year. It is also my first time to have encountered them. Anyway, when I visited their booth, I was torn betweeen the French Tablea Torte and the Tablea Cheese Cake. Eventually, I opted for the torte and it was a really good decision. The torte was delicious and I love the balance of bitterness and sweetness.

Confex & Co. Bakehouse’s Ube Leche Flan Cake

I know it is not chocolate but it’s delicious. Anyway, I was very happy when I found out that Confex & Co. Bakehouse will be among the purveyors in this year’s chocolate festival. When I saw the products they were offering, I did not hesitate to buy the Ube Leche Flan Cake. The cake is as delicious as it sounds. I enjoyed every bite of this and will drop by at their store to get another slice. This dessert is also among my favorites for the year.

Confex & Co. Bakehouse’s White Chocolate Matcha Cookies

While I am a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies, I am always open to try somethin new. These White Chocolate Matcha Cookies by Confex & Co. Bakehouse was definitely a treat. I love the blend of saltiness, bitterness, and sweetness from the cookie. I also like how I can really taste the matcha.

Gooey, chocolatey, and delicious. That is how I would describe Yolk’s Choco Caramel Cheesecake. Though it may come across as too sweet to some, this dessert was great. I also love how the caramel oozes from the cheesecake.

The Davao Chocolate Festival have always been a fun coverage for me and every year I am happy to see the different purveyors offering various cacao-based products.

The Davao Chocolate Festival is organized by SM City Davao in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agriculture, Cacao Industry Development Association of Mindanao, Inc., and the City Government of Davao.
