As part of its continuing efforts to improve itself, homegrown restaurant Patok sa Manok has been taking steps in re-branding itself by offering new and improving new items on its menu.
Earlier this year the restaurant opened its new flagship store along Tulip Drive, Matina where we were also introduced some dishes that they recreated and some pastries they have made. [Read the story here]

This time around, the members of the media and digital influencers were invited to try some of the other pastries and cakes they have prepared for their diners.
During the media launch we were introduced to their cheese bar, cheese roll, ensaymada, silvanas, pandesal, Ube Macapuno Cake, Durian Chiffon Cake, and Dulce de Leche Cake.
All were good but I would like to highlight my favorites.
Cheese Bar

This has got to be my favorite of the pastries I tried from Patok sa Manok to date. It was simply cheesy and delicious. It also paired wonderfully with the coffee we had.
Premium Ensaymada

Patok sa Manok’s premium ensaymada is just coated with parmesan cheese. I love parmesan cheese and any dish that is topped with it. Therefore, this was really a treat for me. The balance between the richness of the parmesan cheese and the sweet-and-salty ensaymada is what I loved best about the pastry.
Durian Chiffon Cake

Chef Pauline Benedicto-Mallillin said when the Durian Chiffon Cake is served at the store, it is drizzled with Malagos Chocolate. For the media launch, the chocolate was served separately since the whole cake was displayed. The chocolate is a nice touch to the cake as it balances out that unique flavor of the durian. For durian lovers, I think you will love this cake.
Patok sa Manok will also make their pastries available at their other branches in the coming weeks. For now, you can enjoy these at Patok sa Manok Tulip Drive or Rekado.
