Rophe’s Chicken: A Visionary’s Legacy

Introducing to you guys my guest writer, fellow digital influencer, and friend, Patty. She is one of the founders of the leading food guide in Dumaguete City, Food Trip Dumaguete. Every now and then she will be contributing to my blog. Click here to visit their Facebook.

What started as a project for a business class is now one of the go-to restaurants and events place in Davao.

Rophe’s chef and owner Rophe Cambronero said everything began with a family recipe, his vision, and entrepreneurial skills.

From humble beginnings, Rophe is now enjoying the fruits of his labor and so are the people looking to enjoy good food at affordable prices.

Here’s the low-down on what you can expect when you dine here.

Space and location

Located at Kilometer 5, Buhangin, Davao City, Rophe’s is right by the highway, you won’t miss it. They have a parking space as well, so that’s convenient.

Their buffet area can accommodate nearly 50 diners at a time. They have two function rooms for events that can accommodate twice that number.

The interior décor is designed by Rophe and his mom. Some design ideas came straight out of Pinterest and according to him they just mixed it up to suit their taste.

The place exudes a rustic, boho vibe complemented by warm light that’s very homey and cozy you will feel like you are eating in your own dining room.

Food

Spaghetti

The Spaghetti was a hit. I liked it the most. It was sweet and creamy, real Filipino style. It’s one of their best sellers and constant option in the buffet menu as they change it every day. The pasta is one of the very first dishes Rophe cooked and mastered.

Their chicken was also quite good. Perhaps it is a given that the chicken would stand out as this is the dish that put Rophe’s on the list of must eats when in Davao. The chicken is prepped in his home town in Cotabato, that’s where all the magic happens with the flavor and spices that will remain a family secret. The chicken is then delivered to the restaurant.

The buffet features six to eight dishes if my memory serves me right. From soup to California Maki, to veggies, lechon kawali and more.
