On April 14, 2016, the Mindanao Trade Expo (MTE) was officially launched at the Ayala Abreeza Mall, Davao City. The five-day trade fair (April 14 to 19) is being organized by the MTE Foundation Inc. in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (PhilExport), and Abreeza Mall.
The trade fair is one of the events I always look forward to. Though it should be noted that Abreeza Mall has regularly hosted trade fairs every year but MTE is one of the biggest trade fairs being held at the mall annually.
What I really love about the MTE is it features a wide range of local products ranging from food, fashion, and wellness, among others, coming from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from all over Mindanao. Among my favorites include the vegetable chips of Frux Food Products, the dark chocolate of Malagos Chocolate, the different flavored dark chocolates of Cacao de Davao, wild honey from various SMEs.
It is nice to know that through events like these our local products and SMEs are gaining spotlight. I observed that every time a trade fair is being held in Abreeza Mall or someplace else, people actually go there to buy their favorite local product or check out what various local entrepreneurs have to offer.
Trade fairs like the MTE has also served as a launching pad for many SMEs like Frux Food Products, El Tigre Chili Products, and Jellie’s Country Pure and Natural Soap. Their products are not only gaining popularity in Davao Region but also in other parts of the country.
These local products are also not that expensive. The price of the products are quite reasonable and I think that you actually get what you paid for.
I am encouraging you all to drop by at the Abreeza Mall to check out the product of SMEs from all over Mindanao. I’m sure that you will definitely find something here to take home with you or give as a gift or pasalubong to your friend and family.
Let’s support our local products and help Mindanao SMEs become known to Filipinos and the world. 🙂
