Isa and I were supposed to have breakfast at Hilaiza’s Pastry Shop in Panabo City but it turned out to be brunch since we left Davao City quite late in the morning already.

I have been here a couple of times already but I have never written about it. Previous visits here were when I have a news coverage in Davao del Norte.

THE PLACE

I find Hilaiza’s to have a homey and welcoming atmosphere. However, I find the place to be quite tight. I think there are too many chairs and tables for the dining space of the pastry shop. There are also tables and benches outside.

Most of their chairs and tables are arranged for groups. They also have an area where the tables are good for solo diners or couples.

FOOD and BEVERAGE

For our lunch here, we ordered the Adobo Trio (P220) and Cordon Bleu (P210). We also ordered the Ensaymada (P40), Hilaiza’s Choco (P115), and Americano (P85). For desserts, we had the Dome Cake (P110) and Boston Cream cake (P95).

Adobo Trio

I loved the Adobo Trio, which has beef, chicken, and pork. I find the meat to be very tender and I think the dish was really delicious.

Isa also enjoyed her Cordon Bleu. I took a bite of it and find it to be good. I love the crispiness of the crust and I like how the chicken was not dry.

Ensaymada

The Ensaymada was also good.

We also liked the Boston Cream Cake. However, the Dome Cake, which was a layer of chocolate cake, white chocolate mousse, and milk chocolate mousse, was the best of the desserts that we ordered here.

I have also previously tried their Pecan Pie and regularly buy their chocolate chip cookies to enjoy back at my place. Both are really good.

SERVICE

The service we experienced here was pretty good and the food was served within 20 minutes.

I find the staff to be pretty accommodating but I think the staff should have smiled more.

BOTTOM LINE

Hilaiza’s Choco

Isa and I enjoyed our visit to Hilaiza’s. It is a really great cafe to drop by at whenever you are at Panabo City or passing by it.

The food here is good and their cakes and pastries are delicious too. Their cookies here are also a favorite of mine and are a great choice for pasalubongs.

Hilaiza’s Pastry Shop is located along the National Highway, Panabo City.
