Skipping our diets

Me and dear friend Ferina have been on a “diet” in the past few days or weeks. However, a few days ago we decided to skip the diet and indulge ourselves with some delicious food and decadent desserts.

For lunch, we originally planned to eat in a nearby carinderia but ended up eating at The Griddle since she was craving for their burgers while I was craving for their sandwiches.

When we got there, we noticed that there has been some changes since we last visited. One is they added some new products in their menu and they also changed the menu board, which now includes a photo of some of their products.

The new burger products include Spiked Burger with Onions (P180), The Triple Double (P330), Mushroom Burger (P190), and Patty Melt (P190) while the new sandwiches are Spiked Beef with Onions (P180), Pork and Kani (P160), Caramelized Onions and Cheese (P120), and Pork Egg and Cheese (P150).

For lunch I ordered one of the new products, Spiked Beef with Onions, while Fe had their bestselling Bacon Burger (P190). We also ordered Classic Fries (P90) to go with our meal.

The Spiked Beef with Onions Sandwich was simply delicious and its components worked well together. I like the kick and heat coming from the spicy dressing and the caramelized onions added sweetness to the dish. The beef was also perfectly cooked.

The sandwich contains beef brisket, caramelized onions, mozzarella cheese, and spicy dressing.

Fe also enjoyed here Bacon Burger, which was juicy and delicious. We also enjoyed their fries, which seems like they use real potatoes instead of the processed frozen fries you find in the supermarket.

After the delicious and very satisfying lunch we proceeded to Happy Cakes by Zeny M, located along Jacinto Ext. and just beside Kopi Roti, for some dessert.

We ordered the Lemon Walnut Torte (P180), Salted Caramel Cake (P75), and Oreo Cream Cheese Cake (P85). Yup, three cakes for two very hungry employees.

The Lemon Walnut Torte was delicious; we finished it in less than five minutes.

The Salted Caramel Cake was also great. The sweetness of the caramel and the saltiness were just right making it another memorable dessert. I’ll definitely have it again.

Meanwhile, the Oreo Cream Cheese Cake was just okay. It was good but we did not get a hint of oreo or cream cheese from it.

We will definitely come back again at Happy Cakes since there are still a lot of cakes that are waiting to be tasted. Some that caught the interest of our palettes are the Milo Dinosaur Cake, Fresh Strawberry Shortcake, Choco Peanut Butter Cream Cake, and the Dark Chocolate Ganache Cake.

To say we were full is an understatement. The lunch at The Griddle was definitely memorable while the cakes at Happy Cakes satisfied our sweet tooth. We returned to the office with very happy and full stomachs.
